Thoughtful estate planning for the people and memories that matter most.

Estate planning is about more than preparing documents. It is about making sure the people you love are protected, your wishes are understood, and your family is not left with unnecessary stress during an already difficult time.

I founded Nield Legacy Law because families deserve estate planning that feels personal, clear, and carefully handled from beginning to end. When you work with my firm, you work directly with me, a California attorney who takes the time to understand your family, answer your questions, and help you feel confident about the decisions you are making.

You will not be handed off to a sales team or left trying to make sense of generic online forms. My goal is to make the process feel approachable and organized, while making sure your plan is built with the care and legal precision your family deserves.

Before founding Nield Legacy Law, I worked at multiple estate planning firms and saw firsthand how much of a difference clear communication, careful drafting, and personal guidance can make for a family. Before entering private practice, I also served in the probate court, where I gained valuable insight into the challenges families can face when planning is delayed or unclear.

My background in finance, along with graduating magna cum laude while serving as the No. 1 singles player and team captain on a Division I tennis team, shaped the way I approach my work: prepared, detail-oriented, dependable, and focused on helping people move forward with confidence.

My hope is that, by the time we finish your plan, you will feel a genuine sense of relief knowing that you have taken an important step to protect your home, your family, and the legacy you are building.

You work directly with me, not a sales team or an online document company

Living Trusts in Ventura, California

Practical trust planning for Ventura families

A revocable living trust can provide a plan for managing trust assets during incapacity and transferring those assets after death without a probate proceeding for properly funded trust property. Your successor trustee, beneficiaries, and distribution instructions should reflect your actual family circumstances.

For homeowners, funding is especially important: signing a trust alone does not transfer your house. We discuss how deed preparation, recording, financial accounts, and beneficiary designations fit into your overall estate plan. Read more in our California living trust funding guide.

Nield Legacy Law serves clients in Ventura, Oxnard, Camarillo, Ojai, and surrounding Ventura County communities. Learn more about attorney Trenton Nield and our Ventura County estate planning services.

What is included in the Complete Homeowner Estate Plan?+

Is inheritance protection planning included?+

No. Optional inheritance protection planning is not included in the $1,595 individual plan or the $1,795 married-couple plan. Ask about this option during your consultation if you would like to discuss whether it may be appropriate for your family.

Does a living trust avoid probate?+

A properly created and funded living trust can help avoid probate for assets titled in the trust. Trust funding is an important part of the process.

Are virtual consultations available?+

Yes. Virtual consultations are available for Ventura, Oxnard, Camarillo, Thousand Oaks, Ojai, Ventura County, and California clients.

Can my Ventura home be transferred into my living trust?+

In many cases, yes. Real property may be transferred into a revocable living trust using an appropriately prepared and recorded deed. We will review how your property is currently titled and discuss the deed work and county recording steps needed for your circumstances.

What happens if I sign my trust but do not fund it?+

Signing a revocable living trust does not automatically change title to your home or accounts. Assets left outside the trust may require separate steps or probate. We provide funding guidance so you understand what needs to be coordinated after signing.

Are deed transfers included?+

Deed preparation, recording fees, county fees, and third-party costs are separate unless otherwise stated in writing. During the initial call, you can discuss whether deed work is needed for your property.
